DESCRIPTION

Debra Bostic opened Sassi in March 2004 because she misses the abundant boutique choices in her former home of Scottsdale, Ariz. — or "boutique heaven" as she describes it. The transplant braved the burgeoning and ever-expanding Bellevue Square mall just blocks away and opened up her hip little shop just off of Main Street in Old Bellevue, in a space she shares with Bella-Vue Designs.

One gets the feeling that Bostic's own closet would look very much like her shop — jammed with feminine clothing that's a bit edgy with a faintly vintage influence, the closet of a devoted shopper with a penchant for up-and-coming independent designers and a look that's "different." Look for a little bit of sparkle, like the black-beaded Allen B. jeans she carries, or the soft Claudette sweaters made with vintage cashmere and embellished with faux pearls and rhinestones.

Bostic has mindfully picked pieces that can be dressed up or down and worn more than one season. The lace and satin Ruth tops can be worn with jeans or skirts, exotic embellished Chan Lu skirts can be paired with sandals in the summer or cashmere in the winter. Prices are in the boutique range. For example, the Chan Lu skirts are $239 and a sassy tweed coat by Karla Steen playfully named "Move Over, I'm Driving" is $254. But Bostic also carries BarTak jeans in eight different fits for less than $100 a pair (comparable to $170 designer jeans).

Bostic will have chic pieces for the holidays that you won't see on everyone else (she rarely buys more than a few sizes of a single design). Check out the funky knee-length rabbit-fur coats in pink leopard and green cheetah prints, and don't miss the feathery and faux animal-print evening bags to complete your look.
