VICTORIA, B.C. What can you say about Liberty Excedera St. Louis except that she's out to bug you?
Excedera, as she prefers to be known, interprets creepy-crawler behavior at the Victoria Bug Zoo for kids who sit enthralled at her beetle-tattooed ankles to hear her tales of bug love and potty habits.
"I'm also well-known for putting bugs on kids faces," she threatened visitors one day last fall.
"Oooh, that's disgusting," someone sneered.
Exactly.

INDEX, Snohomish County There arent any sidewalks here. Dont need em.
Theres no movie theater, dry-goods emporium or hospital, although there used to be. The quarry shut down in 1932, taking the jobs with it. The high school followed suit in 1942.
This town is just 10 blocks long and two blocks wide. And if you were to stroll it up, down and crossways, you couldnt help but stumble on 54 historic sites and rock-solid evidence that life off the interstate is good.

PORT TOWNSEND 'Twas probably a dark and stormy night, since it was January. And the butler may indeed have done it who knows?
What is known is that sometime before dawn on Jan. 14, 1917, Israel Katz, owner of Waterman-Katz Department Store, went missing from his comfortable Victorian home. Just disappeared without a trace, leaving behind his watch, his glasses and a town that still puzzles over his fate.
Being without a body or a credible clue, the police decided Katz probably took a long walk off a short pier and drowned.
