As a jewelry junkie, I'm always on the hunt for something standout. It has to be eye-catching, it must have a style of its own and I have to love it. I found it recently at a Xenia Callahan trunk show. The local designer, who sells her pieces under the name of Xenia Mara, uses vintage copper and brass chain, and found objects and gemstones to make one-of-a-kind jewelry.

South Lake Union's Vida Wellness Spa just might be my favorite new spa. It scores big points for offering Ayurvedic treatments, an infrared sauna, three rooms for couples and a spacious but cozy fireplace-warmed lounge. Oh, and did I mention a great location? It's in the 200 Westlake complex, across the courtyard from the swanky Pan Pacific hotel and right upstairs from Whole Foods Market.

A steady stream of warm herbal oil poured onto my third eye, located in the center of my forehead. This ancient Ayurvedic treatment is meant to bring psychological and spiritual balance, and heal a plethora of ills, including stress, insomnia, depression, hair loss, hormonal imbalances and headaches. All I know is that I was completely relaxed, and when the last drop of oil dripped on my forehead, I felt blissful. And very oily.

Northwest jewelry designer Lisa Kinoshita recently moved Mineral, her studio and retail shop, to new digs, and the small space is a gem of a jewelry store in downtown Tacoma. Painted a brilliant persimmon, and featuring two display cases that showcase jewelry, mounted insects and animal skeletons, the store exudes a mixture of avant-garde chic and life-science class.
