On the way to Morocco last July, I told my husband with a straight face, "I'm not going to buy a bunch of stuff there. We need to clear things out." That was before I realized I was traveling not only to a wonderfully exotic country with amazing architecture, fantastic food and kind people, but to the land of bustling souks and beautifully made crafts.

Local artist Stacy Day Parade hand-prints greeting cards on 100 percent post-consumer recycled paper, then embeds them with flower seeds. When the card's novelty has worn off, the recipient can simply plant it in a pot or in the ground outside and -- voilà! -- she'll have a crop of pretty wildflowers in about four weeks.

A recent search for a field guide on the birds of Northern India led me to the charming new digs of Flora & Fauna Books. Last April, the Seattle institution moved from its subterranean space in Pioneer Square to an adorable cottage just outside Discovery Park in Magnolia.

A random sample taken from men who practice yoga revealed where they get their yoga wear: Goodwill -- or their sweats-and-worn-T's-filled bottom drawer. OK, I actually only asked two guys in my yoga class. But after observing men in improvised yoga wear for years during my own practice, I'm pretty sure my survey results are accurate.

Sleeping beauties will love Essenza's new collection of pretty PJs. The eponymous line from the Fremont boutique was designed by owner Becky Buford and her sister, Wendy Fink. After selling luxury nightwear for years, the sisters knew what women wanted. "We've had so much feedback on sleepwear from our customers, and incorporated that into our designs," says Buford. "We paid particular attention to comfort, fit, length and the weight of fabric."
