When Greenwood boutique Tweed opened its doors two years ago, it was an instant hit with fashion-savvy Seattle women -- particularly those with waistlines larger than a Livestrong bracelet. Though it certainly proffers its fair share of clothes for little women, Tweed became known for its generous selection of real-world sizes, like tush-flattering James Jeans in sizes up to 34.

So when I heard Tweed was closing at the end of August, I came thisclose to freaking out, certain I was looking down the barrel of a long, lonely fast to get back into the size 4s found in most local boutiques. I called owner Danielle Luartes pronto to find out what was up.

If you could see my desk, you'd know that my stash of Starburst is intact, because Luartes informed me that Tweed's closure will be temporary. Like my waistline, the store is expanding, and since it can't do so in its current location, it will move in September to a bigger one. Fittingly, the store needs roomier digs because Luartes will begin selling plus sizes in the fall.

Tweed's planned new address -- still in Greenwood -- is 424 N. 85th St., though Luartes cautions that in the unpredictable world of commercial real estate, you never know what might happen. Just to be safe, call the store to verify the new address before you visit.
