At 5-feet 2-inches, I must have most of my clothing altered, or at the very least, hemmed. Thankfully I found Hannah Lee, seamstress extraordinaire and owner of City Custom Tailors on Second Avenue near the Moore Theatre.
Hannah is simply the best at altering denim and reattaching the original hem. The $16.50 charge is a bargain considering you're retaining the fashion integrity on a pair of $176 jeans. Need a long gown hemmed, sleeves shortened on a leather coat, or a suit altered? Hannah does it all, quickly and efficiently. A regular pant hem is $11, a simple A-line dress hem is $16, and lined sleeves on a jacket are $20 and up.
As the saying goes, "A good tailor is worth her weight in gold." Well, maybe I made that up, but it's true.
