Rouge sprouts in place of Willow

New store is a mother-daughter affair

April 25, 2007

Acme Made

Goodbye Willow, hello Rouge. Cheryl Duryea passed the fashion baton to her daughter, Stephanie Duryea, when she closed her long-running shop Willow in University Village last month. Stephanie stepped in and opened her own boutique, Rouge, introducing a new look and fresh brands.

The updated space has French-style boudoir chairs covered in turquoise colored velvet, leopard print pillows, black velvet curtained dressing rooms and liberal splashes of red. You'll find a slew of younger styles but Stephanie hasn't forsaken longtime customers-it's a great spot for mother-daughter retail therapy. She will continue to carry best selling lines such as ISDA & CO. along with Anne Ferriday and Equestrian. The young and fashion-restless will find mod dresses from Louis Cho, trendy tops by BCBG, Susana Monaco's drape-like dresses, groovy patterned tops from Sky, and locally designed hoodies from Prairie Underground. A selection of accessories rounds out the collection including Sam Edleman ballet flats and wedges, Hobo leather handbags and jewelry by local designer Kimberly Baker.

Visit Rouge's Web site for a $25 gift certificate valid through June 1, 2007.
