Do you dread spring cleaning? I used to take pride in my annual household deep cleaning. I’d scrub my floors until they sparkled, rid the walls of cobwebs, shine the chrome, organize my desk drawers but that was before I became a parent, and actually had time.
Now, with a baby in the house, cleaning takes second fiddle to my little tyke. So, in the small bits of time I have to tidy up this season, I want to make it enjoyable and safe for my family. I’ve ditched the harsh chemicals and have been on the lookout for natural products and maybe ones with calming aroma-therapeutic scents to lift my spirits when the baby has been crying all afternoon.
Caldrea has a line of home cleaning products household cleansers, soaps, even laundry detergent that are made with plant-derived ingredients and essential oils. Wash your countertops with the scent of basil and blue sage, or polish your furniture with the essence of lavender pine (now, that’s my kind of cleaning). The company also has a new scent out this season, just in time for spring Ginger Pomelo (a citrusy fragrance with a hint of vanilla, ginger and basil).
Look for Caldrea products, which range in price from about $8 to $15 (a bit pricier than Clorox, yes, but worth the splurge, I think), at City People’s Garden Store, Capers (in Fremont and West Seattle), French Quarter Linens and other stores. You can also purchase online at www.caldrea.com, where I spotted a fun "Spring Cleaning Essential Set" ($60) complete with five Ginger Pomelo cleaning products (all purpose cleanser, countertop cleanser, powdered scrub, dish soap liquid, hand balm and cleaning cloths and a bucket).
