Rosanna departs U Village, expands online tableware selection

While it may be an ending for one of Seattle's prettiest shops, the University Village tableware boutique Rosanna is also embarking on new adventures. Officially closing its brick-and-mortar doors on Jan. 30 (be sure to stop in beforehand to snatch up great last-minute deals during the farewell/customer appreciation sale going on now), the store has expanded its selection of signature tableware and flatware for sale online www.rosannainc.com. You can also find it at select local retailers.
"We depart University Village with a tinge of sadness," says founder Rosanna Bowles. But customers can still find Rosanna products locally at Watson Kennedy downtown, and at Romanza in Ballard. Bowles is also planning to expand her line of products internationally through retailers such as Anthropologie, Ballard Design, Laura Ashley, Nordstrom, Smith & Hawken and Spiegel.
If you're eager for a sneak peek at the company's 2007 designs, visit www.rosannainc.com where you can see and buy her latest creations before they hit stores. I'm particularly smitten with the "Boho" refined porcelain tableware. The eclectic bohemian mixture of botanicals, stripes – even polka dots – makes for a lively and fashionable tabletop (set of six dessert plates, $48; set of six dinner plates, $90).
