Saturday, Oct. 24 and Sunday, Oct. 25 is the YWCA's 7th Annual Closet Treasures Sale to benefit Dress for Success Seattle. This sale is full of designer-brand fashions donated throughout the year specifically for this event by individuals and retail stores.

Approximately 70 percent of the clothing is gently used, with the remaining 30 percent new clothing donated by Fifth Avenue retailers Nordstrom, Banana Republic, Chico's, Gap and Pendleton.

All the proceeds from the Closet Treasures Sale go directly to Dress for Success Seattle, a program that provides professional attire to low-income women entering the workforce. Most items for sale are $50 and under, including vintage pieces and evening gowns. The sale also includes handbags and jewelry.

"What is most important to us at the YWCA is that the women who patronize this sale understand that they are directly helping other women," explains Program Manage Kiantha Duncan-Woods. "It's guilt-free shopping that aids other women on the road to self-sufficiency."

Admission to the First Pick Preview on Saturday is $35 and includes an informative breakfast program and tours of the facility and the Dress for Success closet area. Sunday, admission is free and tours of the facility are available every hour. The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days and takes place at the Downtown YWCA.

Despite the economy, Duncan-Woods is optimistic that this sale will be just as successful as previous year's events. "Buying used clothing is a positive thing," says Duncan-Woods, "and another way that women can feel guilt-free about shopping for all the beautiful clothing we have for sale."

The event takes place at the YWCA Building, 1118 5th Ave., Seattle, WA 98101. For reservations, call 206-325-3453.
