My girlfriend and I spent an entire day last week shopping for brooches. I just can't get enough of these fancy little baubles that add '50s glam to any outfit. Pile them on lapels, pin them on hats or secure your stylish wraps with these gem-encrusted beauties. Another fabulous find of the week was Brett Bizik, who turns less-than-lush lashes into thickly seductive eye-batters in a matter of minutes.

I thought I would be bored when I went in search of back-to-school gear, but instead, I found supplies, books and bags worth buying (and the best part is, you don't have to head back to the classroom to use and enjoy these finds). It was still hard work, so after one relentless day of scouting I stopped by Olivine's new Shopping Happy Hour for an attitude adjustment. It made me giddy, not inebriated, and I walked away (in a straight line) with a new cream blush at a discount.

Sparkly makeup for fancy parties and evenings out can make you feel so glamorous -- unless it doesn't adhere to your lips, lids or cheeks and you end up looking like a 7-year-old who went nuts with glitter and a glue gun. That's why I was excited to find out that Salon Dewi has the complete Girlactik Beauty line, which includes, among other things, a signature sparkle eyeliner/shadow set, shimmering highlighters, eye shadows, lip glosses and body powders.

Does the thought of baring your less-than-perfect legs or sunless décolletage influence your choice of sexy party dresses? Then meet your new best friend: Body Bling by Scott Barnes ($49). This moisturizing, shimmering body lotion is infinitely better than a self-tanner. It goes on smoothly, stays on, and washes off. I like it better than a spray tan, too – it saves time and money.
