Show Pony promises to delight, it says so right on the invite! There will be a door prize of a fabulous Prairie Underground Hoodie, perhaps my most favorite thing in my wardrobe right now, as well as Trophy Cupcakes. So far, so good!

Buying a couch seems like a simple thing, but it's really not. At least, it's not for me. I'm slightly commitment-phobic when it comes to choosing a couch. It's the focal point of the room, and it's got to be comfortable and cool at the same time. That's a lot of pressure.

Most of the modern styles that I like are usually way outside my price range. Or so I thought until I stumbled upon Couch, a shop in Fremont that will custom make more than 200 models of couches at affordable prices.

I couldn't stand those commercials, but not because LeBrock was gorgeous. They irked me because I knew that LeBrock wasn't lathering, rinsing and repeating at home with Pantene.

I have a small clothing budget and an even smaller closet, so I aggressively curate my wardrobe each season. Without mercy, I pull garments that are too small, too big, too trendy or too worn.

There are some pieces, though, that make the cut every year. Those are the ones I always feel great in and wear all the time. Included in that lot are two skirts I purchased more than three years ago from local designer Victoria Simons.

Big changes are afoot on the Seattle boutique scene. You may have already heard that Olivine in Ballard, that most cherished of local boutiques, is closing. After 10 years of fashion excellence, owner Julie Merriman Wray is shutting the doors Aug. 17 and moving on to her next project: Show Pony.
